By adopting participative strategies, individual experiences and subjective perspectives gain more and more importance in the museum. The conference brings together international voices to discuss the consequences of this turn to subjectivity. It aims to reflect on participatory approaches in collecting, displaying and researching and to analyze the impact of people’s subjectivity in the museum, whether it is from the museum workers, the visitors or the participants involved in projects.

The conference is a joint effort of the Historisches Museum Frankfurt and the Department of Museology of the Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias in Lisbon to bring together researchers from different parts of the world to fill gaps between diverse museological traditions. The target is to promote the dialog and identify how the museum itself is transformed, along with its practices and methods.

Call for Posters
Were or are you still involved in an interesting (participatory) project dealing with subjectivity that you would like to share and discuss with other colleagues? Why not present your work during the Poster Session on the opening day of the conference? You can present either curatorial or educational projects as well as projects dealing with museum collections. The Poster Session will be on Monday, 26 June 2017. The posters will be hanging during all the conference days so that there is enough time to share and discuss your project with colleagues.

Format Presentation
Your project could be presented on a printed poster or by photographs, graphics and pieces of text that you attach to a presentation panel provided by the Historical Museum. The language should preferably be English. The posters should not be bigger than the standard poster size of DIN A1 (ca. 59cm x 84 cm).
Presenters of a poster will be expected to be present on Monday, 26 June 2017 in order to explain their poster and maybe also hand out information material.

Application
Applicants should describe in max. 2.000 signs their project and how they intend to illustrate it in the poster format. Please focus on the kind of subjectivity you encountered during your project and how you dealt with it. The deadline is Monday, 18 April 2017. You will be informed by the end of April 2017 if your proposal was accepted. If you have any questions, please contact Érica de Abreu Gonçalves: erica.deabreu@stadt-frankfurt.de.
The conference is funded by the International Museum Fellowship Programme of the German Federal Cultural Foundation
